Yes, we use Ebonics. The fact that you slander a community for something they CANNOT change. It is not about genetics (obviously) it is about the culture & community where you grew up from. It isn't SLANG it isn't "not speaking properly" and it isn't "talking ghetto" It simply is dialect aka Ebonics. But i guess black people cant be anything except what White america is.
So are southerners and they're southern accents "ghetto" or "improper" NO. But when it comes to black people speaking Ebonics it is... Why? Because people like you validate this because someone offended you by saying you "talking white"... Why not take that opportunity to educate black people on how there is no "correct way to speak English" rather than invalidate Ebonics. I think that insecurities drive much of what happens in the aforementioned situations. I know that people, not just women look anywhere for love. In a child, in a partner, in a career. We are all striving to be connected to someone, something, and it causes us to make poor choices at times. We can say all day that there are societal pressures that cloud judgement. That poor examples of motherhood help to foster further examples of poor motherhood. But I think that would lead us into a circular motion, where we are stating, "If, then," way too much. To be honest, this is just one of the many layers in the problems of the black community specifically. To peel back one layer of this onion, you would have to peel back many more, because its all connected. I can draw light to part of problem without necessarily having a solution, because it is so multidimensional. Keep reading the blog...and keep posting.Convohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00859421772542457645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4175482531678245620.post-25978555460463007182012-09-05T17:16:12.472-04:002012-09-05T17:16:12.472-04:00If only it were so easy....so easy to define, so e...If only it were so easy....so easy to define, so easy to identify, so easy to see clearly. The truth is...I believe most of us don’t know what LOVE is…we think we do, but we really don’t. Imagine a divorce rate of 50%....I would venture to think 95%+ of those couples thought they understood love.

“Not to be religious” but if God is Love…how can one understand Love without a relationship with God first? Would not God set some types of spiritual guidance and order for love?

I think the truth is:

“Exactly what is this thing called love? Since it is a very broad term, the ancient Greeks managed to define what-is-love and there are four types: agape, eros, philia and storge.
• Agape is unconditional love with a deeper sense of "true love". Example: Giving others your precious resources for loving support without an expectation in return.
• Eros is passionate love. It is mostly sexual but can also be passion for anything, such as car hobbies.
• Philia is displaying love through loyalty to friends, family and community, usually by sharing resources and expecting something in return.
• Storge is natural affection that is often felt by a person for related family members”

Basically saying Love is confusing and comes in different forms. POINT BEING: Don’t think that a “love” letter means he/she really understands love. Don’t assume that ANY heterosexual or homosexual relationship embraces and understands love. The truth of the matter is regardless of who you are most of us do not understand the meaning of love, and to me those that believe in a higher Power, must first identify that this Power is Love, which WILL encompass some type of guidelines for the spirit to follow.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4175482531678245620.post-78626401932955052552012-09-05T16:52:39.848-04:002012-09-05T16:52:39.848-04:00It seems easy to state obvious facts that there ar...It seems easy to state obvious facts that there are women/men who have challenges parenting and even 'slip' into the role. I think the challenging and life changing question is what TRULY motivates a woman to have kids in order "keep" a man? What encourages a woman to have a child because it is "cute?" To me, the real challenge is understanding the psyche and coming up with solutions. Not making excuses, but sometimes life and the brain are more challenging than we think…imagine- Could someone imagine that years of breaking down low-income households, lead to generational failures? Could the frustrations of the environment lead to a misguided family thought process? Is it possible to not have a “good” mother, and draw from those (lack of) teachings to become a “good” mother?
I would think this goes with the idea of low-income people living above their means….which probably means he/she never had budgeting experience and an environment that enforced over extension issues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4175482531678245620.post-1336733688764462282012-09-05T01:21:50.223-04:002012-09-05T01:21:50.223-04:00Well stated per usual.

Not only do I imagine this to be so...I absolutely live by it and think it is the truth.

I think "love" is a purely spiritual connection that exists between people. It's intangible, invisible, ungraspable, unexplainable and yet SO powerful. Its something that exists entirely in our mind, cognition, intuition...and most importantly, our spirits. And yet, it is so powerful that it dictates our outward moods, actions, reactions, and even finds ways to manifest itself physically in our bodies at times.

Honestly, the whole concept is extraordinary. I think that fact that, as humans, we have the opportunity to feel that depth of a connection with another being, is a gift. (Not only romantically, but the love that we feel between ourselves and any individuals)

For me, the feeling of "love" is a reminder that God is real, because I truly believe that God is, in fact, that intangible, invisible feeling of wonderfulness and spiritual connection that we have decided to call "love" in the English language. And so with that in mind, I find it ridiculous and offensive that us, lowly mortals, would seek to categorize something so magnificent as "love" into a box that is only allowed to exist romantically between males and females. I wish people would allow themselves to think outside of these boxes...
K.Fileshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05537637034977934958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4175482531678245620.post-81084834524593931722012-06-15T18:07:05.209-04:002012-06-15T18:07:05.209-04:00I was just having this conversation... Taking nothing from those powerful points, there are ways to have a healthy unprotected sexual relationship within a nonwedded relationship. I obviously have had unprotected sex outside of marriage given that my fiance and I have a beautiful baby girl. But please believe we both went to doc and got tested several times throughout our relationship (there is an inoculation period for the virus). And one of first conversations included a serious discussion of our beliefs, values and priorities if we were to have a surprise lovechild. And of course, we discussed monogomy. All this happened very early and when our relationship was still casual. I know that you are not speaking about such couples who diligently, responsibly and thoughtfully have these tough convos, so I only included this anecdote as a strong suggestion to your audience in a effort to protect oneself in the event you decide to go unprotected sexually. With that, in a totally secular sense, comittment can and should come long before marriage and in those instances, it is up to the the couple to discuss all the possibilites - including the adverse outcomes of your actions.Convohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00859421772542457645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4175482531678245620.post-23553705132449255312010-11-20T09:25:01.636-05:002010-11-20T09:25:01.636-05:00Jaunelle Pratt - if only you could post this in pl...Jaunelle Pratt - if only you could post this in places people from the neighborhood could see...Convohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00859421772542457645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4175482531678245620.post-75054392795583730632010-11-20T09:24:28.158-05:002010-11-20T09:24:28.158-05:00Martina Sanders-Spight - Stay encouraged C-Vo.
